After missing a scheduled race due to engine troubles, the R&R Motorsports team and Kevin were both excited to get back to the speedway for some racing action.  This past weekend, the team returned to both Williams Grove Speedway and Lincoln Speedway.

Due to his high point average at Williams Grove, Kevin lined up in the 9th position for his heat race.  The track was fast and difficult to pass on, but Kevin still advanced to the 5th finishing position by the end of the non-stop 8 lap heat race, missing a qualifying spot by only one position.  That finish would line Kevin up on the pole position of the consolation race.  In another non-stop event, Kevin drove to a convincing victory and qualified for the 20 lap feature event.  After making considerable changes to the chassis, Kevin lined up in the 16th starting position for the feature event.  With a fast racing surface that was still difficult to pass on, Kevin steadily worked his way to the front.  By the halfway point, Kevin had advanced to the 7th running position, and was in a battle for the top 5 when his luck once again turned bad.  Exiting turn 2 on the 11th lap, Kevin’s inboard brake rotor exploded into many pieces, scattering debris all over the track and ending Kevin’s exceptional run.  Kevin was credited with a 22nd place finish.

After working most of the day on Saturday to replace the damaged pieces on the car and do their normal maintenance, the team headed to Lincoln Speedway for another night of action.  With 43 cars signed in competing on a very fast racing surface, another tough night of racing was expected.  Kevin lined up in the 4th stating position in his heat race and rocketed to the lead exiting turn 2 on the first lap.  From there, Kevin drove to his second heat race win of the year at Lincoln.  That effort would earn Kevin the 5th starting position for the feature event.  Following a long victory lane celebration with the 410 sprint winner and another long delay by the big wheel races held for the kids in attendance, the feature finally got on the track with a light mist of rain falling.  By the completion of the 2nd lap, the light mist changed to a steady rainfall which forced the cancellation of the feature event.  The remainder of the race will be run, in addition to a regular show, on May 31st.  Kevin will restart the event in the 3rd place running position, behind race leader Aaron Ott and Adam Wilt.

Another exciting weekend is ahead for both Kevin and the #4R team.  With no races scheduled for this Friday, Kevin has once again been asked to be a part of the O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions event broadcast, being held at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, PA.  Kevin will be joining the broadcast team as a pit reporter along with DJ Johnson, while “the voice of the All Stars”, DC Bash will be joined in the booth by veteran track announcer, Bruce Ellis.  As always, you can listen to the broadcast live on either the BAS Racing Radio Network of radio stations in Ohio and Indiana, or by logging onto www.DirTVision.com and looking for the broadcast link.

Then, on Saturday, Kevin and the #4R team will once again head south to Lincoln Speedway for another event featuring the 410 Sprints and the 358 Sprints.
